Karen, founder of MamaSing and member of MamaSing Budleigh, was absolutely thrilled to be singing at the Royal Variety Show 2016 as part of the choir accompanying Gary Barlow and the cast of his/Tim Firths new musical “The Girls”, based on the original calendar girls story.
Karen and all the girls choir sang “Dare” as they held their sunflowers aloft for Prince Charles and Camilla. There was a day of rehearsals at the Hammersmith Apollo, led by musical directors Bob Howe and Hannah Brine, and Creative Director Kim Gavin, followed by the dress rehearsal and performance. The girls got to watch some of the other acts during rehearsal – highlights of which include musical heroes Barry Gibb, Sting and Amber Riley and of course we had a treat with a naked David Walliams joining us on stage! It was a tremendous experience, and the show will be broadcast on ITV on Tuesday 13th December 2016.
Come and join us for a sing on Thursday 20th October at 10:30 and then enjoy a tea or coffee with us (juice for little ones). Oh, and there’ll be cake. Delicious cake made by Jola, one of our MamaSingers.
Don’t worry if you haven’t sung with us before, we’re a friendly group. No singing experience needed, just enthusiasm! £5 drop in rate. So far we’ve been singing our way through songs including Wonderful World, Somewhere Only We Know, Autumn Leaves, All My Loving, and Ahrirang (a Korean folk song, quite beautiful).
Everyone is welcome, with or without little ones…
OH, and you’ll find us in the church hall at Budleigh Baptist Church, Little Knowle.
Wow! What an amazing start to our choir here in Budleigh Salterton. We are so delighted to have had so many people turn up and sing with us for our launch session in Budleigh – Mama’s grandmamas and even a grandpa. Sounding amazing already and that was only your first session! What a fantastic little venue we have too, the Baptist Church may be tucked away but it’s a gorgeous little building and we’re delighted to be there!
So here’s to us – long may the fabulous singing continue!
Tremendous news…. drum roll please…. We have confirmed a new venue and so are delighted to announce we are launching our first MamaSing in Budleigh Salterton. We are absolutely delighted to have discovered the Baptist Church Hall on Little Knowle, the chapel is a gorgeous listed building with a perfect MamaSing sized hall on the back.
The delightful, and super talented Emma Gray (known to many in the area as Miss Miranda) will be leading the choir with her beautiful voice. I will be bringing up the rear (foghorn style) with a few harmonies. I’m so excited at the prospect of singing with Emma.
Emma and I will be launching with the inaugural MamaSing Budleigh Salterton taking place 10:30am Thursday 15th September, at Budleigh Salterton Baptist Church Hall. Sessions will continue on Thursdays at 10:30am thereafter. So come on, don’t be shy, join us for some laughter and singing, in a splendid baby friendly environment in September. If you’re tempted, catch Emma or myself in the playground at St. Peters, or email us: Karen@mamasing.co.uk or Emma@mamasing.co.uk.
How very exciting, we have successfully relocated, and are now planning our first mamasing choir in Budleigh Salterton. Mamasing is a group for women to come together and sing, in a baby friendly environment. We sing pop, rock, world, gospel, soul, jazz, classical…. just about anything and everything. You don’t need to be an experienced singer, or read music, you just need to have enthusiasm, and enjoy music.
Last year a research project found that singing in Mamasing choirs improved wellbeing for mums and babies. The mothers in the study were more relaxed and felt energised after singing with Mamasing. Not only this, it helped them connect with other mums, and feel part of a new community. It wasn’t just the mums who benefited either, the mums used music much more in their daily life and in new ways to support their babies, for example they found songs from the choir were soothing for their babies and helped them sleep.
If you are a mum, or a mum to be in or around East Devon, and you fancy giving us a try email email@example.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Mama Sing Loughton are delighted to have been asked to perform at the switch on of the Christmas Lights in Loughton. The Mayor will be there along with Billie Mucklow and Lydia Bright of Towie fame.
Mama Sing will be opening the event, and their performance will include a duet between group leader Gem Cox and Emma Corrigan, accompanied by Mama Sing founder Karen on violin.
It looks to be a lovely family event, and word on the street is that Father Christmas may even make an appearance somewhere during the event.
Come along and support us, 4pm, St Mary’s Church, Loughton High Street.
And here we are, about to start a new term with Mama Sing. Can’t wait to get stuck into some of the fabulous tunes we are learning this half term, and I’ve just finished uploading some of the songs into the members area ready and waiting for everyone to practice.
Happy Singing xx
Well how jolly exciting. I’m so excited I could sing like Julie Andrews! Can you believe during our first term at Bababoom Loughton we have been nominated in the What’s On For Me national awards as best arts/crafts/music/events activity.
To all those who nominated us a very big thank you!!!
I think we are the only Loughton activity in this category, and certainly the only baby friendly activity for mums. I’d love to see us get to the final, although there are some amazing, and much better established groups in the competition.
If you really like what we stand for, and are trying to achieve with our choir then please please offer us your support by giving us your vote – it literally takes a few moments, you just click on the link below, find our category (6th one down), and then select Mama Sing from the drop down menu.
Thanks Again xxx
We are running some summer drop in sessions in Loughton over the summer, for details have a look at this poster… and if you fancy a sing come and join us!
